Holocaust

The victims of the 1943 holocaust in the villages around Ano Viannos deserve better than the "C" class website at www.holocaust-lasithi.eu

23,000 euros from the European Union ?

It wasn't spent on that website. That is for sure. It could have been built for a few hundred euros.

So what was the money spent on?

The 23.000 euro budget breakdown of the program is as follows:

1. 1.650: Staff: administration and coordination of the action

2. 1.224,64: General Expenditure: office supplies, telecommunications, postal charges.

3. 2.375,36: Travel expenses and subsistence costs (transfer to the western villages of Ierapetra for interviews and contacts).

4. 13.100: Production, communication and dissemination costs (apr. 270 translated pages to english, apr. 580 page book publication (1.000 copies), book distribution, web-site, advertisements-promotion-press).

5. 4.650: Miscellaneous costs directly linked to project activities (scientific personal for interviews, transcription of apr. 600 pages of 21 interviews).

The web-site cost 1.050 euros. We must say that the site is still in formation and as anyone can see in it, we are seeking for constructive comments. Also, before you wrote down the connotation “what was the money spent for?” you should have communicated with us in order to clear any related question relative to the budget breakdown.
